REVIEW: |
The Stones July 75 week long set of performances have been endlessly
released by various labels over the years and that doesn’t seem to stop; here
comes this no label release from Mike Millard master tape. Just as a memo this
show was released as L.A. Fog on double LP (TMQ 8208-8), American Tour 75 vol.1
& 2 (Holy Grail 1-2 RS 75), 5 tracks were on The Best of the RS Live in
Concert (BRS 775), 16 on Smoking Stones 2 LP (RS 75 A-2 1-2) while on cd it
came out on a 2 cdr set called First of Five From the Forum, then on The Forum,
Inglewood 2 cdr the first to have the Millard recording. On silver as L.A. Fog
(BGP 277), on a 2 cd set called L.A. Opening Night (Totonka PRO 17-18) and Lost
Forum Tapes (Blue Sun Records), but also as part of the 8 cd set Whores, Cocaine
and a Bottle of Jack Daniels (EVSD 43-50) that had also the DVD from July 11th
show. It then appeared on Live at L.A. Forum (Screamer 04008-9) and as part of
the 10 cdr set The L.A. Tapes (Pignose 119) and lastly as Love You Live Los
Angeles (DAC 049) that too had the famous Mike Millard recording. Moreover it
was also released as Welcome To The Chinese Restaurant (SODD 023-24), but Sympathy
For The Devil can be found on Tour Of The Americas 1975 (Godfather 244-5) and
the whole concert as part of the 14 cds and 1 DVD box Tur Of Americas 75 (WLR
2124).
In 2018 it was the subject of Cpt
Acid remaster as First Forum (APD 034) 2cdr then 12 tracks can be found on L.A.
Forum 1975 1st Night (no label) that came out in 2022.
About this release, well it is a nice set with the Millard Master
recording offering a great open sound with ample room for all the instruments
in one of his classic mid-seventies Stones recordings.
