The review

This video has always been the worst pro shot available, due to being a very high generation copy. It was first released on Stones in the Dome (Sweet Records RSOR-71378) as a bonus to the first purchasers of Hampton Coliseum 1978 2 cd set offering a version of New Orleans 1978 that was slightly better than the previous releases of this concert. This version however is better, it seemed to be coming straight from the VHS of the same name which was the very first release of this footage. It is in colour from the very start and footage less blurred than the other versions, even if by a very slight degree; the audio though comes from the audience with many interactions, especially during Beast of Burden and Just My Imagination, probably dubbed later; anyway, there is a source flip one minute into Shattered and during that minute just audience noise is heard. The video is a two camera recording of the concert, clearly pro shot, one camera taking all the action placed in front of the stage and the other from the right side of the stage (elevated); there is frequent fading between the two cameras (during When The Whip Comes Down reaching the point of frenzy with too many switches in a matter of seconds) and at times the second camera footage is shown at the bottom of the screen while the front camera shows the main stage action; it seems to come from an unauthorized filming of the show. Zooms in happen mostly from the front camera but on occasion (Lies) also from the other one. There are tape wobbles during Miss You and Just My Imagination but quality improves from Tumbling Dice onwards; there are also many close ups of the audience in the final numbers. The end of Jumping Jack Flash has both Richards and Wood seated plating in front of the audience with Jagger jumping nearby. This concert was released on DVD-R with this same title by Dr.Exile and as 1978 U.S. Tour (RSVP).  Let it Rock can be found on Forth Worth 78 (Jointrip JDTV 005) and on the DVD contained in the cd box American Tour 1978 (WLR 2129).
