REVIEW:

Here is yet another recent vinyl album with Stones outtakes, some of which are here for the first time on underground releases. On Side One we get an early demo of Hide Your Love with incomplete lyrics, followed by an instrumental jam between Keith Richards and Harvey Mandel on guitar from the famous Musicland sessions. The there is Fragile (Like China) which allegedly comes from the Voodoo Lounge sessions, not to be confused with the track of the same that featured Carly Simon and has both Jagger and Richards singing falsetto. The version of Undercover that follows starts with a count-in (incorrectly attributed to 1985 sessions on the insert) followed by Ronnie Wood’s attempt at Otis Redding Cupid (this from 85) and finally You Got Me Rocking sung by Keith Richards. Side Two opens with Alright Charlie vocal version from the 1993 Ireland sessions, like Don’t Want Somebody Else from the Art Collins collection, then come 4 known Bridges to Babylon outtakes, the set ending with a recent discovery: B.B. King Paying the Cost to be the Boss from the 1997 Deuces album that featured all the Stones members, this time 90 seconds longer than the officially released version and without Jagger’s harp at the end. This is an excellent compilation of recently surfaced tracks that at the moment are not featured on any silver disc. However, it is funny to see the subtitle that claims outtakes from 73 through 93 when here are included no less than 4 tracks from 97!
