REVIEW:

This WLR release is a copy of the 2 Cpt.Acid compilations sporting the same title that we already reviewed here, this label somehow acknowledges the original release in a way: it gave this release a serial number which reflects the original maker: AP (Acid Project).  In fact all these songs are well known coming from the band’s golden age (some have been officially released meanwhile like Good Time Women, Ain’t Signifying, Brown Sugar with Eric Clapton, Let It Rock in stereo etc.) but have been pitch corrected because many were running way too fast, they had phase problems on any bootleg and they were badly equalized in many cases, before this fix. Everything has been remastered, many rarities here are in better sound than on any version before, like that rare version of Memo From Turner, for example. As usually pitch, phase and levels have been fixed as well as some equalizing and that is all, no noise reduction, no compression, no limiters. On the original review we wrote that everything was done exactly as if someone would like to release this officially, which in fact is what happened with this release. Soundwise this collection of tracks runs very smoothly offering an excellent sound output throughout, regardless if the songs are mono or stereo with no hiss on tracks we all remember were full of, like Sweet Black Angel and Let It Loose backing tracks; many of these are outtakes legions of collectors have grown up listening, so it is nice to have them on silver disc in what could be their definitive shape; overall packaging is nice, but there are still mistakes on the back cover regarding the recording dates plus they forgot to list Disc Four tracks 15 and 16 on the booklet.
