REVIEW:

With regards to the other 1982 Frankfurt shows, the final day s recording is by far the less covered one and the release of this master tape, reworked by Cpt. Acid is good news especially for those that like the 81-82 live version of the band driven by the two guitars. In Cpt Acid words:   I was asked to do this tape from LTB. He recorded this show, so this is straight from his master tape. I did some editing, level correction and new EQ, nothing else. Mr. D made another great artwork.

This concert appeared at first on a tape simply called 7-1-82 Frankfurt show, copied in 2000 on cdr (front cover too) as Frankfurt July 1, 1982 2 with a back cover that resembled Vinyl Gang products. Other cdr sets came out, Frankfurt 82 and Live in Frankfurt July 1 1982 complete, while an Untitled one just had 23 tracks without Miss You, Honky Tonk Women and Start Me Up.

This is a good recording, even if it seems to run a tad too fast to me, taper s location seemed to have been a bit distant from the stage, the slight echo heard mostly on Jagger vocals could also be due to fact that the venue was not an open one, this was in fact one of the few indoor concerts of the 1982 Stones tour, All instruments can be heard with no problem, there is a nice balance between high and low frequencies, most likely due to the reel to reel recorder used; the bands plays with confidence, this was the third show in a row in that venue (June 29 and 30 the previous dates), something the Stones would not do again in other tours. Talking about performance there is an excellent version of Black Limousine here, compact and inspired, that is a benchmark for all subsequent live renditions; excellent is also Bobby Keys solo midway Going To A Go Go; it is funny that the last track has been named After Show Music And Noises instead of the more commonly used Outro.

Since we are used to these high standards releases, just a couple of remarks: 1) it would be easier to download if the 2 discs get their separate folders, in order not to manually have to add every track one by one, 2) artwork is nice but too dark, printer colour cartridge is at risk, a bit more variation in colours would bee preferable. Apart from such minutiae this is a great find that adds another milestone to the early 80s live Stones list of remarkable performances.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
