REVIEW:

This fast growing series continues with Volume 4, on Disc One as always the original untouched outtakes beginning with Keep It Cool #1 long version from The Virchov Tape (DAC 181), followed by Keep It Cool #2 from Can t Find Love (DAC 159) which is the so called short version, although nearly 10 minutes long and by another take called Keep It Cool #3 from ACT 12-01 tapes which is another short version (but 7 seconds longer than the previous short one) without count in, with drums at the end that seems anterior to #2 and was called Keep It Cool #1 on ACT. There is even a 30.33 minutes version of this song around, but come to this stage it is hard to be sure it is genuine, although ending like version 3. After this long stint with these jazzy tunes there is a good blues called Looking For Trouble from All Mixed Up (DAC 111), Melobar from Bird s Vault Vol. Three (OBR 93CD 039) an instrumental called Mick s Idea on ACT 16-07, Munich Hilton #5 from All Mixed Up (DAC 111) but entitled Munich Hilton IV which includes the Brown Leaves/Dancing Girls riff and piano. Note: the Munich Hilton that was called V on All Mixed Up is in fact the Instrumental Reggae referred at previous volume 3! Talking about instrumentals we get then Pink Pick from Bird s Vault Vol. Three (OBR 93 CD 039), then Pretty Beat Up #1 from Chain Saw Massacre (DAC 110), another Pretty Beat Up which has yet to get its number from (ACT 6-11) that is a more elaborated version, whose working title was Xmas Issue and it is really surprising due to the continuous soloing of guitars and harmonica with the brass punctuating the rhythm; finally Pretty Beat Up #2 from Think You Like It (DAC 109) a version similar to version 1 with additional harmonica and guitars.

Disc Two starts with Keep It Cool #1 which is a mix between the track from The Virchov Tape that was already decelerated by 1,673%) and the one on Can t Find Love with speed correction of -2,19%, then Keep It Cool #2 with channels duplicated and Keep It Cool#3 whose channels have been rebalanced +20% to the right channel and speed corrected of -1,16%. Next is Looking For Trouble with duplicated channels and Melobar that has been speed corrected & channels duplicated, the original OBR released track was accelerated by 0,795. Munich Hilton #5 has channels duplicated while Pink Pick was speed corrected & channels duplicated, the version on OBR was accelerated by +0,815%. The first version of Pretty Beat Up #1 is a mix of DAC &OBR and has been decelerated by the same speed as #2, the unnumbered Pretty Beat Up was synched with the official version decelerating by -3,220% and Pretty Beat Up #2 had channels duplicated.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
