| REVIEW: |
This
release is a remastering of a transfer from the original vinyl album with the
same title (TMOQ 7157) that came out in November 1972. It is a high quality
recording in mono, despite a slight distortion in the bass frequencies; no
equalization applied, no unwanted noise from the vinyl (scratches). This
recording was re-released by the same label in 1975 with different artwork (TMQ
1838) by the famous Dub, after his split with Ken (hence the lack of an O on
the label); it had been released as Two Great Albums Cheap 2LP (TMQ 7505) in 1973
coupled with Essen 70, then copied again on Two Great Albums Cheap LP (D-304)
and reissued in 1977 (K&S Rec.008) just in 100 copies. On cd it came out at
first on cdr bearing TMOQ 71057-RS 522) on the matrix, then on a rare Japanese
cd (No Label) and in 1994 on Burning at the Hollywood Palladium (LATHP 1972),
copied from the vinyl version including crackles. Two years later came
Hollywood ‘72 for the Trash in the Seventies series (Shaved Discs Trash 02) and
finally in 2003 popped up Two Great Albums Cheap (VGP 348). Exactly twenty years
later has appeared the first remaster, this is a reissue of that but this time it
comes with a new artwork that reminds the old vinyl album. The sound is better
than on the VGP version which had too much bass, here the sound is a bit
clearer. Allegedly they also played Love in Vain, Bye Bye Johnny, Rip This
Joint and Street Fighting Man, plus Honky Tonk Women as encore but none of
these surfaced.
