| REVIEW: |
This
work was accomplished using Backstage Limited (DAC 010) having fixed the azimuth,
phase & corrected levels and applying new equalization; work was also done using
Music Rebalance in iZotope RX11, to make guitars and drums a bit louder. Tracks
01 (CD 1) & 09 (CD 2) are incomplete soundboard and have been patched with
audience recording, to make a complete recording.
The
Lyon concert came out at first on a tape with a mistake in its date: Lyon
09-06-76 (sic), then on vinyl as Little Boys Play With Stones (Fan Club M21),
on compact as Backstage Limited Live In Lyon (Terrapin 208) with Jumping Jack
Flash faded out, Backstage Unlimited (VGP 203), Les Inrockuptibles
(Scorpio-Gold Standard LES 828) missing Hey Negrita,
Backstage Unlimited (DAC 010) coming from a
master tape with a complete soundboard and Little Boys Play With Stones (DAC
093)
with a complete mono audience recording;
then came out Europe 76 (SODD 017-018) having the Earls Court concert of the 22nd
coupled with Lyon 76 on a 2 cds set. This concert was also part of Tour of
Europe 76 (WLR 2134) 12 cds & 1 DVD box. Brown Sugar and Jumping Jack Flash
appear on the vinyl box El Mocambo 1977++ (Red Tongue Records 029).
This
show hasn’t been mostly celebrated but does feature probably Ron Wood best
performance with long solos played in progression without the usual frenzy
attitude that characterizes his playing. The sound output is very good and
artwork nice as well, for once abandoning the usual all black background.
