| REVIEW: |
This
release is a copy of a remaster that happened in 2023 which already clearly did
stand out with the regards to all other ones; on Honolulu here no reverb or
hum, as on the other broadcasts no unwanted noises from VHS conversions and no
equalization added. Moreover, there is no more the drop that used to existed at
the beginning of The Last Time.
As well
the Australian broadcasts sound a bit cleaner here.
The Stones
1966 concert in Honolulu was the last with Brian Jones in America, it has
appeared on many underground releases: So Much Younger Than Today (TSP 012), Command
Raid (RS 90-8078), Commando Raid (ELJ A7372) Honolulu Hawaii July 28, 1966
(Bulldog Rec. BGLP 09), So Much Younger Than Today (TSP 012) red vinyl, Eight
By Five (CH 82178), Alive And Rolling From The Crater Of The Sun (King Kong
KKP2).
while the song Satisfaction can
be found on Command Raid (RS 90-8078) and on Commando Raid (ELJ A 7372).
On compact:
From Paris to Honolulu (Silver Rarities SIRA 212), Paris Match (Gold Standard/Scorpio
SCO 15), Sold Out (Hot Island HI 916601), Bill Wyman’s Black Box (VGP 329), In
Action (IST 18), So Much Younger Than Today (Master of Sound (TSP 012 and
20BIT-03), Hawaii 1966 (Coda SBTCD028), Reelin’ And Rockin’ (VGP 274), Paris
Match 40th Anniversary Vintage Stones 2cd no label, Our Last Concert
Ever (Sister Morphine MORPH 57), 66 Route
(GFR 262), In Another Time, Another Place (Coda
STBCD005), Satisfaction in Concert (Coda CPLCD252)
then 2 songs appeared on The First Decade (Big Music Box BIGBX 03) and on Don’t
Lie To Me (RS 90-8078), 4 on Live in USA 1964-66 (Black Panther BPCD027).
The sound
restoration started with the Sister Morphine release, and that was truly
amazing allowing the listener to get into the groove of those crazy early 60s
shows: Beatmania at its most with screaming girls that cannot obstruct our
enjoyment of the music no more. As for the Australian concerts, they have been previously
released on it came out on Do You Like Bill Wyman (Ibexrec. 018) 2cdr, Do You
Like The Rolling Stones? (VGP 274) and Bill Wyman Black Box (VGP 329), Down The
Road Apiece (Bad Wizard 6167), On Tour 66 (1950 Rec. R&B98, RABDB085), Australian
Tour 1966 (DAC 196) with the final interview originally released at the start
of this last cd.
