| REVIEW: |
This
release presents some outtakes and some songs that are not that but officially released
ones like It’s Only Rock’n’ Roll and Angie; it’s hard to comprehend why a label
would choose this against the commonly available first take of the song with
David Bowie, or the slightly different mix for Angie for a compilation like this.
Likewise, they could have used the newly found first instrumental take of Time
Waits For No One, instead of this well-known take with longer drums ending that
came out first in Japan in 2011. God knows why they called Criss Cross instead
of Save Me (like on many bootlegs) Cross Cross Cabby. Drift Away and Living In
The Heart Of Love come from Tattoo You De Luxe from 2021 and Too Many Cooks
from Jagger’s 2007 The Very Best Of. Liner notes on the back of the front cover
increase misinformation like on Winter said to be the first version from
Kingston 1972. So, what are we left with? A nice cover artwork and a good
sounding compilation but real outtakes are something else (check the new OBR
title Bird’s Vault Vol.4 soon).
