This release from WLR has again the Voodoo Lounge live shows as its focus, but this time we get the best of the World Live concerts from 1995. The initial set of 2 cds is dedicated to the Rio de Janeiro concert which came out as Voodoo In Rio (Midnight Beat MB 029/30), taken from TV, a mono soundboard recording, but on Bucket Full Of Water (Star Spangled Music SSM 008/009) the source was taken from TV, but a stereo soundboard recording as well as On TV From Rio 95 & More (RS 01951/52) which was anyway incomplete and mono, Brown Sugar and Jumping Jack Flash missing. Another release for this concert is You Got Me Rockin In Rio (Phoenix Records D356475) and Brazil 95 while the sole Angie was released on All things must come to an end (SP001-2) and Midnight Rambler on Rare Live Tracks From The Voodoo Lounge Tours 1994-1995 (Lost Home Syndicates 001). Unfortunately WLR has selected a mono source for this concert.

Next is the concert from Buenos Aires that is in excellent stereo but lacking some high frequencies on the first disc; it came out as Argentina Sympathy For The Voodoo Cult (Voodoo 001/002), Buenos Aires 1995 (Pampas Records Pare 002 - 1&2) stereo soundboard recording, The Fifth Night American (Fly 024-25), Going Wild (Rock Solid RS 001/2) incomplete show, taken from video, Satisfaction taken from video, copy of the bootleg Going Wild. One of the highlights of this tour is the acoustic version of Angie with delicious finger picking solos. As for the show from Santiago, Chile it has only been released as Southern Quotations From Chile 1995 (VGP 089) and is an incomplete show, missing Jumping Jack Flash, while Satisfaction and Brown Sugar are faded out early and Miss You is faded in; since this is the audio part of a tv broadcast most likely where tv ads were broadcasted. The quality here is the same as the known source with boring announcement ‘Concierto’ being broadcasted over many songs; Midnight Rambler was not played in Santiago replaced by Love In Vain, but the booklet here does not acknowledge it. Another unusual site for the Stones to perform was South Africa, the concert from the second day was broadcasted on tv and the recording released on Everything But The Cobra (Dr. Gig DGCD 037-2) incomplete show taken from video, mono and stereo soundboard recording with Rock And A Hard Place missing;  Live In Johannesburg (The Swinging Pig TSP-CD-185-2) another incomplete show taken from video mono and stereo soundboard recording where Rock And A Hard Place comes from B.Aires concert from 16 February 1995. Welcome To South Africa 1995 (SODD-CD-014/15), Welcome To South Africa 1995 (Shaved Disc) another incomplete show where Rock And A Hard Place is missing as well as    Voodoo Africana Sister (Morphine 39) and It s All Over Now, live With me and Slipping Away are featured on Welcome to Voodoo Lounge (GFR 277-8).

The first Japan concert featured here comes from Tokyo and is certainly the best sounding of the lot and also the best played by the band as well; the concert from 12 March was released as Fuckin Tired (VGP 051) taken from TV, stereo soundboard recording (a third cd was included with various bonus tracks), Voodoo Edo 95 (Sister Morphine MORPH 017), Eastern Promise (Kiss The Stone KTS 445/46) taken from TV, stereo soundboard recording but here the intro music is missing and and there is an error in the song Sparks Will Fly; then Honky Tonk Tokyo (HTT 1295 1-2) a complete show (maybe taken from Laser Disc?),  Live In Japan (Octopus 105-2) taken from TV, stereo, Tokyo 1995 (Continental Drift CD 007/008) stereo soundboard recording which had as bonus tracks some rehearsals from 30 July 1994, Rarities Tokyo 95 (RS 002). The concert from 16 March is the only audience sourced, it was released on   I Hope You Guess My Name (VGP 114). The thirteen disc holds some songs that were played only on some Japan dates, audience recordings as well,  with tracks taken from the other Tokyo shows and one from Fukuoka, while Memory Motel came out on 13th Memories- Rarities 95 and on Rarities Tokyo 95 (RS 002) and together with Beast Of Burden is present on Fuckin Tired; other tracks were released on Memorial Outtakes, Voodoo Lounge Tour Memorial-1995 March. The studio songs on the last disc from EMI studios in Tokyo have been released as Toshiba:But Naked (VGP 071), More Stripped (KTS 585), Censored (Electric30041), Stripped Away and Stripped 2, Stripped Companion (RSTS ),Check Out What s Rolling (VGP 193), RnR Avalanche (VGP 194), In Between The Sheets (Rattle Snake 020-21) and EMI Studios (SODD 103), here also official songs that came out on Stripped and on Hope Floats soundtrack are included. So this new release from WLR   presents the best of the 1995 live tour leaving out the European leg of the tour (maybe an indication of a new box to come sometime in the future).
