REVIEW:

John Mayall s Bluesbreakers concert from Verona from the 1982 European tour featuring Mick Taylor is well known, but recently a new version was posted by Kingrue on Traders Den; this version comes from the same tape but presents a better transfer (in particular concerning the speed). So it has been decided to release it also because some minor upgrades had been done, like adding some high tones, the overall sound has been reworked as the transitions: now each track begins with a song. Unfortunately the faults are the same as on the previous version: some little gaps there are still and some music can still be heard in the background of Looking For Willie and The Stumble, probably due to the taper not having used a blank cassette tape to record the concert.  The recording is stereo (it can easily be heard during songs transition), but it seems that one section of the tape got worn out by time, losing magnetic parts and only occasionally like at the end of Howlin Moon or from Room To Move onwards a full 2 channels recording can be appreciated. The line up for this tour consisted of John Mayall on vocals, harmonic, organ, piano and guitar, Mick Taylor on guitar and piano, Steve Thompson on bass and Colin Allen on drums; special guest on vocals is Maggie Parker Mayall (John s wife) on Baby What You Want Me To Do and Room To Move. Packaging is really tasty with interesting pictures from the gig.
