This is the recording of the second show in San Francisco, as longest as
the first one and with the same setlist but for Joe Cocker’s set where the last
2 songs were inverted in position; f
or this show there were 3 sources:
Source #1 can be found on San Francisco December 1983 (Heart Breakers
HB-809-1/2); initially it was taped by Brother Tom: it’s a good lossless
recording.
Source #2 was taped by JEMS, this too is a good lossless audience but
not as good as the one by Brother Tom.
Source #3 is the video soundtrack, the sound is good, with more stereo
effects but it was lossy.
Two versions were posted:
6a: source #1 and 6b: merges of sources #1 and #3: a
pro-shot
video of the whole show exists; here reviewed is the merges version with:
- on the left channel: the source #3 used as reference (it’s a new video
rip)
- on the right channel: the reworked version of volume 06a .
In detail, on Disc One: the
Band introduction was merged except for the
first 35 seconds coming solely from 06a; Seven Days was merged except for the
last 24 seconds which are solely coming from the other source and were not in
the video. Feelin’ Alright has been merged except for the last 19 seconds which
are solely coming from the video.
On Disc Two Star Cycle was merged except for the first 1’13 min. which is
solely coming from the video; Blue Wind was merged except for the last 9
seconds coming solely from the video, while Going Down was merged except for
the last 39 seconds which are solely coming from the video
Prelude was merged except for the first 1’31 are which are solely coming
from the video, Who’s To Blame and City Sirens had Paul Rodgers on vocals, as
well as Boogie Mama
where there was also
Stu on piano. After
Stairway To Heaven
the encores are preceded by a long intermission: it was cut at different
times in the two sources.
In the merged parts it was kept but they were
interrupted by two fade ins/outs, one at 9’42 and the other at 9’58.
On Disc Three, Layla was merged except for the last 2 minutes of banter
which are solely coming from the video, while Goodnight Irene was merged except
for the last minute which is solely coming from the video.
