This release presents the 2nd show from Cambridge in late
October 1989, for this show too there were 2 sources:
-
Source #1 from a video
-
Source #2 a great recording, said to be a soundboard,
but audience in my opinion, from unknown lineage.
A nice result was obtained merging both sources, there have been 2
versions released: Volume 03a with the soundboard version and Volume 03b with
the merged version, which is what is reviewed here. In particular on Disc One
the Tuning comes solely from the video, on Blues In The Morning
the first 17 seconds and from 0’35 to 0’43 come solely from the video,
the rest is merged.
On Disc Two on the Band Introduction the last seconds come from the
video, on Red House
the first 12 seconds come from the video, the Outro comes solely from
the video.
Here the video source is on the left channel and was used as speed
reference; the alternate soundboard/audience recording has been accelerated by
+4% and is on the right channel. As usual both sources have been de-clicked and
the phase upgraded. This is an excellent recording with emphasis on Taylor’s
side, however the other guitar and the vocals are low in comparison. It must be
said there is excellent stereo separation though and that makes this a great concert
to listen to.
