REVIEW:

This last show in this series comes from Ambler (since the New York area concerts have not been included-a deplorable decision) and of this concert there are two versions circulating:

Source #1 coming from a video, with a very good, but lossy sound.

Source #2 coming from an audio recording with unknown lineage; i t was similar to source #1 but lossless, with a slightly clearer sound, reduced crowd noises compared to source #1 and the banters often deleted. Both recordings are very good but they aren’t soundboards.

A nice result came by merging both sources, so it was decided to propose 2 versions:

Volume 04a with the audience version

Volume 04b with the merged version that is the one reviewed here.

In particular, Tuning & Intro the tuning (0’14) is solely from the video and the video (0’14) comes solely from the audio. Leather Jacket is merged except from 6’01 to 6’05 because of a 4 second gap in the audio version. Semolina is merged except for a 0,7 second from source #2, used to compensate the gap between the VOB at 7’21 and the last 48 seconds (the banter) come solely from the video. Blues In The Morning is merged except for a 0,3 second patch, at 2’46, from source #2 because of a micro-gap in the video source. the banter was missed in source #2 and came solely from source #1. Goin' South is merged except for the first 3 seconds coming solely from source #1, a micro-gap between the VOB is been compensated at 10’10. The Band Introduction is merged too and a half-second in source #2 had been compensated.

On I Wonder Why-Hide Away the banter (28 seconds) was missing in source #2 and comes solely from source #1. Blind Willie McTell is merged except for a 0,1 second from source #2 used to compensate the gap between the VOB at 7’56 and the last 28 seconds (the banter) come solely from the video. Finally, the Outro is merged except for the last 12 seconds coming solely from source #1.

As usual the recording has been de-clicked and the phase adjusted.

The video source is on the left channel and is used as the speed reference. The alternate audience recording has been accelerated by +4% and is on the right channel.
