REVIEW: |
This was
the very first performance of the Stones for their 1982 European Tour, whose
recording did appear some years ago in the trading fans market and then was
released in 2008 as Aberdeen 1982 (SODD 086-7). Just two songs have been
previously available (Start Me Up and Jumping jack Flash) from this show, but
in terrible quality. In 2008 too came out as Masters of Drama (no label) 2 cdr
with pitch corrected, then in 2012 it was released as Dun Kilmarie (Dasuje NHK).
This time
instead of the audience recording though we get a partial soundboard, up to the
middle of Let Me Go.
This
concert marks also the live debut of many new songs but also old ones including
Chantilly Lace the Big Bopper hit that saw a new life also due to the movie
American Graffiti Soundtrack and also Let It Bleed that was never played live
before. The former shows Scotman Ian Stewart in fine form while the latter has
some problems in developing because of Jagger wrong entrance and the guitars
lacking a solo (no sax solo audible here either). The band introduction has
Wyman introduced as last member, mocked by Jagger with Si Si Je Suis A Rock
Star, title of the bass player then current hit. This is also one of the few
live recordings where the piano can be heard throughout Jumping Jack Flash and
Satisfaction as the band runs into its rush hour playing all the warhorses;
this is a great upgrade over the previous available recording, too bad it is
only a partial one.
