REVIEW:

This release is the first one of a series dedicated to Mick Taykor’s concerts with the Wentus Blues Band from 2003 through 2006; on this concert the line-up consisted of:

Mick Taylor on vocals and guitar, Niko Riippa on guitar, Mikael Axelqvist on drums, Robban Hagnäs on bass, Kim Wikman on guitar and Juho Kinaret on percussions and vocals. This is a nice audience recording with good sound output, Taylor’s guitar stands up and the Wentus Blues Band proves to be a nice backing band and in fact all the songs here were part of Taylor’s solo shows; they originate from Kokkola, Finland and are part of the Nordic blues explosion, having been established in 1986.

The biggest problem with this recording was that all the song were edited with fade ins and fade outs and silent parts in between; so the transitions have been reworked deleting some silent parts; the channels have been rebalanced too (+30% to the left) and sound boosted.

Gaps have been deleted at 2’07 and 3’13 in Boogie Man and in You Gotta Move at 2’36, 3’35, 4’24, 4’54, 9’28 and 9’29. Apart from the fades in/out Shake Your Hips lasts just few seconds, anyway this is a good recording of a cool show.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
