REVIEW: |
The first
release of this Benefit show held to help Nicaraguan people from the earthquake
they suffered was the famous Winter tour 73 All Meat Music 2 LP (TMOQ 72006) in
coloured vinyl, followed by It Was A Sunny Day (no label); other vinyl albums out
were called Nicaraguan Benefit Concert (Berkley 2811), All Meat Music 2 LP (Dragonfly
Rec. 411), then reprinted as Winter Tour 73 (TMOQ (73006); then there also is
All You Can Eat (PQ 14) 2 LP. On cdr we got Nicaraguan Benefit Concert (Love
Barrel Prod. 1998) and LA Forum 1973, then We All Benefit (C2C 10) that had Street
Fighting Man fading out. On silver disc were released All Meat Music (VGP 55),
the re-released taken from original tape source (VGP 283). Later Mickboy worked
on this concert putting it out as equalized cdr under the title of Definitely
Vintage (T&F 001), available with this same title too (Rockin’ Rott). Then came
out All Meat Music Winter Tour 73 (TMOQ 2002) on cd offering the same mono
audience recording and in USA in 1993 was released a nice box with this same
title (TMOQ 72006 1-2) presenting on 2 cds the whole concert in stereo in an
embellished packaging. The mono recording pops up again in 2010 on Tour 1973
(WLR 2135) 13 cds + 1 DVD, in 2011 came out All Meat Music (For Fans Only 007) for
the first time offering a stereo recording from this show that provided also
quite a rewarding listening, since the bass frequencies are pretty much bolder
than on all the previous released ones. 5 songs can be found on Complete 73
Affair (Godfather Rec.334-5) and You Can’t Always Get What You Want from this
show has ended up as bonus on a Mick Taylor cd, Listen to his Ronnie (CBM 01). A
few years ago came out All Meat Music (Tarantura TDCRS 53 1,2-54) a 3 discs set
that included the digital transfer of All Meat Music vinyl plus an alternate
source; the latest one was a 2 cdr set said to have been speed corrected, source
being the vinyl album rip.
All these
releases lack Midnight Rambler that was played as an unexpected encore that no
one seems to have recorded (but some newspaper mentioned it on their review of
the show). This release presents a nice version of one of the best Stones 70s
concerts, that really seems a copy of the vinyl All Meat Music rip,
unfortunately in mono; nothing new.
