REVIEW: |
This
release from 1960s records presents the Stones in 1965 plus some other
additional live recordings from the same year. Side One starts with the Stones
set from the Ed Sullivan show May 2nd; then come two songs from the
short-lived Tony Hall program Yeh Yeh, which were not featured in the On Air
official compilation; the last three tracks come from Ready Steady Go! January
show, that was called at the time “the best rock’n’roll show ever”. Side Two
begins with the 4 tracks performed in Wembley on the NME concert Big Beat 65, that
were broadcasted by ITV, followed by 2 songs recorded live on French radio.
Then comes Satisfaction from Shindig with Brian Jones on acoustic guitar and
Keith Richards on a Firebird, but the band mimed here on the backing track
recorded at Chess Studios on May 10th. The last track is again from
Ready Steady Go! from February when Jagger was dragged off stage by female members
of the Stones fan club.
Sound is great
on this release, surprisingly the first 3 tracks are in stereo and this tells
us where they come from (the officially released DVD); packaging nice with an
appropriate black & white front cover picture. At the moment there is no cd
counterpart.
