| REVIEW: |
This
release bring us back in time just looking at its packaging: an old fashioned
black vinyl album with insert in a gatefold cover for Part 2 of the Stones stop
in Detroit in late July 1975; it is said to be from Skull Records, but there is
no evidence on that on the sleeve and even the disc matrix is scratched out and
it is only possible to discern A/B on it. Unfortunately, though, there are many
mistakes here, starting from the date, then track listings order, wrong on
front cover, to the vinyl itself not of great quality with Side One where the stylus
gets stuck at the end. Detroit 75 came out on tape as Detroit Show and as Motor
Ciy Is Burning, then on vinyl on A Stone In My Shoe (French Kiss) in 1983, then
in 1984 on Hear The Whistle Blowin’ (Lapping Tongue LPT 8401) and in 1988 as
Detroit 75 (Shedoobee Rec. AR 00800) in just 200 copies, but running too fast.
On cd this show was released in 1991 in Japan on Rock And Roll Goes On The Road
Again (Hot Lips 006-7), then in 1994 as Detroit Rock City (Stone Crazy 003-2)
in mono soundboard, first in a box and on the 2nd edition as without
it, then on Hear The Whistle Blowin’ (VGP 268) in 2001 and as part of The
Missing Jewels set (Rattlesnake 025-28). In 2004 was released A Stone In My
Shoe (VGP 368) in stereo and later Can’t Forget The Motor City (No Label) in
stereo too. Soundwise it is not bad, but apart from that quite a useless
release.
